The visionary game developer, the mind behind the wildly popular franchise Call of Duty, has passed away in a traffic collision in California aged 55.

His passing was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the development studio he co-founded.

The influential video game developer died after his vehicle was involved in a crash and caught fire on a highway in LA on Sunday morning, as reported by.

"This is a devastating loss, and our deepest sympathies go to his family and friends, those closest to him, and the countless individuals inspired by his creative vision," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts said.
