Shock as Renowned South African DJ Gunned Down in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country grappling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the city centre on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Police said the 40-year-old presenter was accosted by three individuals, with one shot at him before escaping on foot.
The purpose of the shooting is unknown and no arrests are in custody, according to authorities.
The Fatal Incident
Authorities revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a building close to the city center landmark.
He had been present for hours at the site overseeing the implementation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unknown people, it was reported.
"The report indicates the man was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before escaping on foot," an official report said.
Security camera video showed a man with dreadlocks and wearing what resembled a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ tried to run away after he was shot but fell down across the street.
It was further revealed that Stock had an gun that was not fired and it was not a robbery during the attack.
Crucial forensic evidence, like spent shells, were recovered from the crime scene.

"I am in shock. I don't have words," she said.
