Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting 36 points Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, though minor, when he spun at Turn Four during the early running.
The Japanese spun out over the exit kerbs before spinning across the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho turn approaching the final bend on to the main straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th place, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
