Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in southeastern Queensland woke up without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms swept through the area, generating powerful gusts hitting 109km/h.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Impact
Homeowners reported large ice chunks measuring up to 7cm in particular locations. Meteorological experts announced that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Response teams were working to restore power throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units deployed to handle the widespread outages.
Victoria's Weather Woes
At the same time, around one thousand households in the southern state also encountered electricity disruptions after Melbourne recorded its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
State Emergency Services handled 598 emergency reports across the region, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

- Wyndham region - 179 calls for assistance
During the peak on yesterday, more than 28k energy customers in the state were lacking electricity.
Meteorological Predictions
Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along large portions of Queensland's east this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both areas.

Medical authorities warned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
This alert comes after past events where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
