Large-scale Moscow's Assaults Disrupt Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
The country's energy systems have come under increased strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were wounded while local people in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and faced problems to water systems, as stated by local authorities.

At the same time, a minor was killed in a distinct assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has escalated strikes on electrical systems over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "real steps" from international partners to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the America, Europe and the major economies - in supplying protection systems and applying sanctions," he wrote in a social media post.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen missiles targeted the country's power systems, characterizing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were striving to repair systems.

A wave of strikes damaged energy infrastructure and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people hurt in the assaults on the city have been hospitalized, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the city experienced intense attacks overnight. A seven-year-old child was killed and multiple civilians were hurt.

The strikes come after evenings of air raids in the area, sections of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to identify.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already disrupting gas facilities.

Officials stated energy workers and government agencies were anticipating further attacks.
