Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Marshawn Kneeland has passed away at the age of 24.
The Cowboys selected the Cowboys in the second round in the 2024 NFL Draft and appeared in 18 games for the team, including four starts.
He scored his first touchdown in the Tuesday game to the Arizona Cardinals when he recovered a blocked punt.
"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organisation," the Dallas Cowboys said.
"Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his loved ones."
Kneeland was picked by the Cowboys with the 56th selection of the 2024 draft after his college career for Western Michigan University.
His representative, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart breaks" for the loss of the athlete who "gave his all" into each opportunity.
"I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a esteemed pro for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley commented.
The NFL said it is "profoundly grieved" by the tragic event.
