It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Finally, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a platform to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it's been a challenging time because I feel like my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

Once she was out her side needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, should it happen, we are confident we can succeed."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

In recent days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this success succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing through the pain.

However although she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as leader.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
