Administration Decries 'Democrat Hoax' as More Epstein Estate Images Made Public
House Democrats have made public a new tranche of what they labeled "alarming" pictures from the estate of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, depicting among others Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and ex-UK prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The opening batch of 19 photographs—a portion of which have been previously circulated—combined with another 70 released later on Friday represent a minuscule portion of the almost 100,000 images released to the House oversight committee, which is probing the behavior and associations of Epstein.
The disgraced financier was a victim of an apparent self-inflicted death in a New York prison cell in 2019 after being accused of sex-trafficking offenses.
Notable Figures in the Photos
Included in the notable figures visible in the opening set are well-known figures such as film director Woody Allen; Microsoft creator Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, creator of the Virgin empire.
Donald Trump is pictured in three of the initial 19 images. In one, he is photographed with six women, whose faces are redacted.
White House Response
The White House addressed the release in a statement, charging Democrats of selectively "hand-picking" the photographs for political purposes and to "seek to establish a false storyline."
"The Democrat hoax against President Trump has been time and again refuted," a presidential representative stated, asserting that "the current government has accomplished more for Epstein's survivors than Democrats ever have by frequently urging disclosure, making public numerous documents of records, and demanding further investigations into Epstein's Democratic associates."
Democratic Lawmaker Statement
The images were published devoid of explanation, but according to a California Democrat and senior member of the oversight committee, they prompt further inquiries about Epstein's associations with affluent people.
"The moment has come to end this White House concealment and bring justice to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and his influential associates," he stated in a comment.
The publication of these images coincides with the oversight committee proceeding with its investigation into the Epstein case.
